ABOUT
The Athenaeum «TA-RP» is a free company specializing in both casual and long-term RP, often with mature & morally grey themes. Our main operation involves a bookshop and rathskeller which, while operating as a legitimate business, also serves as a front for the owners' more black market affairs such as poisons, smuggling, relic hunting, and blackmail. More in-depth faction activity is kept under moderate IC discretion, giving FC members and our guests ample opportunity for different roles or plot hooks a character can fill, both legitimate and under-the-counter.We are 21+ and LGBTQ+ friendly, with a welcoming and helpful community. We also offer additional opportunities for players & characters alike, such as housing, buffs, writing competitions, treasure map farming, deep dungeon parties, a visitor-friendly Discord server, casual RP nights, non-FFXIV game nights, and a monthly OOC book club!Please note that, while not explicit, this FC features mature themes.

The Athenaeum is jointly run by Silhara Salmalin and Simon Wolff, both well-read book lovers with a history of clandestine, shady activities. The ground floor features a well-stocked bookshop, supplying primarily in rare, historic, controversial, and banned texts from across Eorzea and beyond. The Athenaeum also deals in their share of historical relics and unusual artifacts, using its' own supply of relic hunters and in-store appraisers. The basement features a well-stocked bar & eatery with ample choice of snacks and libations.If you know the right way to approach the staff—and if you bring your gil upfront—you may become privy to the shop's more clandestine areas of business. Whether it's blackmail, smuggling, poisons, or some back-alley detective work, the Athenaeums' staff is more then capable of taking care of life's pesky little problems; for the right price.
